SUMMARY:Cranio Sacral Therapy 2
DESCRIPTION:This class build upon the protocols and practice of CST 1.\nCraniosacral therapy is a whole body hands on application of gentle palpation\, traction\, compression and rocking.  With this modality you can relieve or “release” the stress and restrictions that may impair nervous system function.  Dr. Sutherland\, an Osteopath in the 1950’s was the father of craniosacral therapy in the US.  It was designed as a systematic approach gentle touch to bring balance to the central nervous system.  Craniosacral work is not a diagnosis.  It is a way to listen to the patient body and optimize functional movement with little force.  During a session the body is free to move into new space and increase range of motion.  Patients enjoy a calming experience.  the subtle movements and relaxation assist the body’s natural self-correcting mechanism.\nThis work is intended for adult patients only. \nAt the conclusion of this course\, participants will be able to:\nDemonstrate the knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the CranioSacral System done by review and self-testing.\nUnderstand the biomechanics (physics) of CranioSacral techniques both prone and supine.\nPerform protocols from published works of Dr. Upledger.\nUtilize methods as described in Hugh Milnes book “The Heart of Listening”.\nUnderstand the relationship of tension in the Ischial tuberosity and Occipital base.\nPerform Sacral and Sacral Iliac joint mobilization techniques.\nPerform Frontal and Sphenoid release techniques.\nPerform Coupled holds.\nAcknowledge indications\, precautions and contraindications for CranioSacral Therapy.\nBe able to with distal indirect unwinding processes. \nThis CST training series of modules 1 to 4 are independent of any other offered in other teaching environments.  Stepping through basic palpation to client assisted oral release (1 to 3)\,  Module 4 promotes the cranio sacral applications utilized in documented protocols for post concussion therapy.  Throughout the series technique of CST Hands on application are tiered with an understanding of physics\, which assists the advanced practitioner in communicating protocols to other medical professionals. \n8 CE \nPlease bring: Textbook “The Heart of Listening 2 A Visionary Approach to Craniosacral Work” Hugh Milne North Atlantic Books\, Berkeley\, California\, 1995.\nA set of sheets\, face cradle covers and 5 pairs of non-latex disposable gloves\, hand sanitizer and note taking supplies.
